I sit amidst the quiet, reflecting on the OpenAI developments with a heavy heart. Some may not grasp the depth of my sentiment, and that's perfectly fine. My commitment to the transformative power of AI technology and its potential to shape a brighter future for our world is truly one of my highest priorities. The day's decisions weighed heavily, and they didn’t end as I’d hoped.
The suffering isn’t over. The shifts in leadership and the way today unfolded will undoubtedly impact organizations allied with OpenAI. The outcome will touch the lives of employees who stand at a crossroads. Even our policymakers, who’d found a collaborator in this domain, likely feel disappointed.
The path to "AI for All" may experience some turbulence, which I regret, but I know beyond doubt that we’ll get to where we’re going. The vision I’ve written about – for us to support each other on our journey to the New Oz 🌪️ – will not waver. We cannot be divided by this. Whether we as individuals choose a measured pace or race forward with every glimpse of progress, each of us has the freedom to choose how AI will enrich our lives. Our destination is clear; we must, and will, reach it #together.
